About Us

Soma Building Services co-founders and brothers Chris and Jason Keene are 3rd generation tradesman following in the footsteps of their Grandfather Don and Uncle Jim Amos, along with their father Allan Keene.

Chris and Jason both forged separate pathways in the building industry with Chris involved heavily in domestic and commercial plastering, and Jason working with his father Allan in restoration and heritage plastering.

In 1990 the two brothers formed Soma Plastering and focused mainly on commercial projects in the field of shop and office fitouts.

The name "Soma" was designed to reflect their Grandfather's plastering business name "DW Amos and Son".
This business, where their Uncle Jim and their father both worked, serviced the entire Wimmera Mallee area until the Grandfather retired and the business ceased to operate.

In 1995 Chris and Jason decided to expand beyond their plastering operation and the evolution of Soma Building Services came into effect and in 2000 the business was incorporated as Catajal Enterprises T/A Soma Building Services.

The company's focus now, and as always, is to exceed customer expectations, to deliver projects on time and on budget, and to meet BCA standards along with highest levels of finish.

Other changes have come with the introduction of Site Safety Australia to our safety services division and as of early 2018 Chris and Jason have teamed up with Jamie Shoobert from Dovetail Carpentry to form Soma Developments which expands from our current commercial services to included domestic building as well.
