In 1990, Chris and Jason formed a partnership and Soma Plastering became our registered business name, we also became members of the Master Builders Association of Victoria (MBAV). As in the several years before, Works continued in the field of steel stud & plasterboard walls and suspended ceiling installations, in banks, newsagents, chemists, various shops, offices and shopping centre works. We also still kept working on new houses and renovations including Victorian – Edwardian restorations, but on a slightly larger scale requiring us to employ other trades people, particularly plasterers. In 1995, Soma Plastering ceased and Soma Building Services was created to reflect the more varied works the we were undertaking. Bigger office and shop fit outs and/or refurbishments were undertaken, and Soma Building Services was now employing an average of eight trades people (plasterers and carpenters), and two office staff on a permanent basis. The services of electrical, plumbing, flooring, air-conditioning, cabinetry, waste management, brick laying and many other trades, were now being incorporated into the projects awarded to our business. In 2000+, With the business growing substantially and a new era in GST, it is decided to change the partnership into a company. This year we register Catajal Enterprises Pty Ltd. Trading as Soma Building Services. Major clients since 1990 through project managers and other agents include ANZ Bank, Bank of Melbourne (now Westpac), National Australia Bank, Marriner Theatre Group, AMP Knox City Shopping Centre, Priceline Pharmacy, Pharmore Pharmacy, United KFPW, United Maintenance Services and Spotlight Stores. Fit out and refurbishment projects undertaken vary in value, but are usually in the vicinity of up to $400k. We are now also registered Commercial Builders in WA. |
